Brothers and Sisters,
As I’m at home recovering from ankle surgery, I want to express how much I’ve missed you all these past few weeks. I also want to thank you all for the incredible love and support you’ve shown me in this season. You all care for your pastor very well, and I’m deeply grateful. I’m slowly, but surely, recovering from my procedure. The next appointment with my surgeon is on September 14th, and he’s hoping to clear me then to return to leading worship.
This week, I’ve been struck by Psalm 26, the psalm appointed for this coming Sunday, especially verse 8:
O Lord, I love the habitation of your house and the place where your glory dwells.
Today, I’m reading those words with a strong sense of longing. Having to be absent from worship for several weeks has reminded me of the delight of gathering in the Lord’s house. It’s a privilege to gather to worship the Lord. It’s a privilege to pray to him with other believers. It’s a privilege to come before his throne.
It’s a privilege, one, I’m reminded, never to take for granted. May all of us cultivate a love for the habitation of the Lord’s house. May we all love the place where his glory dwells. May we never take the privilege of worship for granted.
I look forward to being able to gather with you soon. I love and miss you all.
In Christ,
Fr. Caleb
