Brothers and Sisters,
Summers are often considered downtime in many congregations. While it’s true that some of our ministries are on a break for the summer, and part of my own focus at the moment is planning for some new ministry initiatives in the fall, it’s important to me that the life of our church remains vibrant over the next few months. One of the obvious ways all of us can help contribute to that sense of vibrancy is to continue prioritizing Sunday worship over the summer whenever we’re not traveling. We’re blessed that the opportunity to worship Christ doesn’t take a summer break!
I’m also wanting to prioritize fellowship, in general, and I think that the summer presents a great time to introduce some new fellowship opportunities. One of those opportunities I’m especially excited about is parish game night. We’ll be having our first game night next Wednesday (the 24th), starting at 6 p.m. You’re encouraged to bring your favorite games, as well as snacks to share. While I think that game night is a wonderful chance for us to spend time together, I also think that events like these can help ease us into outreach ministry. Would you consider attending our game night, and also inviting friends to join us? In my experience, people who might be wary of an invitation to Sunday worship might still be open to attending a low-pressure fellowship event.
Summer doesn’t have to be a break from the life of the church. My prayer is that all of us grow closer to Christ and to each other in the months ahead.
In Christ,
Fr. Caleb
