Brothers and Sisters,
As I write, I’m finishing my preparations to travel to our Diocese of Western Anglicans Synod in Mission Viejo, California, this week. Synod is the Diocese’s annual gathering. We meet for worship, teaching, fellowship, mutual encouragement, and to conduct the Diocese’s business.
Our time at Synod serves as a blessed reminder of one of my favorite aspects of Anglican practice: We are part of a larger family of churches, seeking to serve the Lord in mission together. This year’s teaching will focus on the Holy Spirit’s power to equip the Church for mission.
Please pray for our time together: for safe travel for all involved, that our churches will be edified and equipped for mission, and that Christ will be glorified in our time together.
I encourage you to join me this week in praying this prayer from the Book of Common Prayer:
Gracious and everliving Father, you have given the Holy Spirit to abide with us for ever: Bless, we pray, with the Holy Spirit’s grace and presence, the Bishops, Priests, Deacons, and all the Laity assembling in your Name; that your Church, being preserved in true faith and godly discipline, may fulfill the will of him who loved her and gave himself for her, your Son Jesus Christ our Savior; who now lives and reigns with you and the same Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
In Christ,
Fr. Caleb
